About Mahmoud Issa
Dr. Mahmoud Issa is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician in Jordan. In 2017, after having completed his Higher Diploma of Emergency Medicine from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan, Dr. Issa moved to the United States to pursue further professional growth, including research and development. Dr. Issa’s professional interests include resuscitation and shock. In September, Dr. Issa joined our team as a research fellow.
About Thomas Leith
Tom was born at BIDMC and grew up in Cambridge. Following high school he trained as an EMT, and subsequently spent a gap year working for Brewster Ambulance Company. He then attended Harvard College, getting his degree in Astrophysics—focusing his research primarily on asteroids and trans-Neptunian objects—with a minor in Arabic. As an undergraduate, he also helped to establish and direct Harvard’s student volunteer EMS service. He joins the Center for Resuscitation Science after a year spent as a clinical research associate working on clinical trials targeting the gut microbiome, and is eager to once again be working in Emergency Medicine.
About Lara Roessler
Lara was born in Denmark and has since lived in several countries, including Scotland, Germany and the United States. In 2011 she did a high school exchange year in West Virginia, which started her interest in the American culture. She is a medical student at the University of Southern Denmark and is currently doing a research year at the Center for Resuscitation Science. She’s excited to be back in America and looks forward to working with the research team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
About Tuyen Yankama
Tuyen is originally from Vietnam and has been schooled in the US since 2008. Following her interests to apply math to the study of biology, she pursued Biostatistics at Emmanuel College, followed by an MPH in Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Boston University. Over time, her interests evolved to learning about the context of the data that she analyzes and understanding how it fits into the larger and more complex picture of public health. After various research assistant-ships, she developed a strong interest in clinical research and is thrilled to join the Center for Resuscitation Science. Tuyen is proficient in SAS, R, Mathlab, SPSS, and is learning Stata. Python and SQL are also on her to-learn list. She is currently planning to pursue a PhD in Biostatistics after some work experience is under her belt. Besides loving biostatistics, Tuyen enjoys painting, swimming, playing tennis, and traveling.
About Amin Coker
Dr. Amin Coker is a product of the University of Ghana Medical School and trained as an Emergency Medicine resident under the Michigan – Ghana Emergency Medicine Collaborative Training Program. He is a member of the systematic review team of Global Emergency Medicine Literature Review (GEMLR). He is a member of Cochrane Anesthesia, Critical and Emergency Care, and a contributor to Cochrane. He joined the Center for Resuscitation Science to improve his research skills, collaborate on his passion for low cost resuscitative methods in low-resource settings, and to perform guideline reviews.
